Project Based Learning Deadline March 10
Hello everyone. Winter vacation ended and here we are at school again. We keep on working online, too. The following 2 weeks you are going to do a project in group, which provides you the opportunity to feel a team member, to learn in group, to collaborate, to communicate, to search, question, find answers and come up with a final, common result. Team work is a great tool in succeeding nowadays.
So, here is the project you are going to do and all the instructions on how to do it.
Project Title- Special holidays in the community
Students’ level - 8 grade
Project idea - The project aims students to explore and find 2 holydays they celebrate in their community.
Driving question-
How can we make our community to care about traditions and holidays ?
Why is it important to have a well-developed community?
EFL Content Skills and Standards;
– produce a well-developed and structured history of the holiday;
- use the proper vocabulary and structures for describing holidays;
- build a positive attitude towards the holidays .
Collaborative Final Products-
- Animoto movi, photos, PowerPoint, videos.
Local & Global Audience-
- classmates, schoolmates, parents, people in the community, teachers.
Project Steps and schedule:
make up 3 groups-as you are from different communities you might form the teams by communities;
select the holidays you want to describe;
decide on the way you want to present the final result: ex: Animoto movie, PowerPoint, video
decide on the responsibilities of the team members-what is everyone going to do: ex; - take pictures, -find out the history of these holidays, -interview someone to find out more information,- put together all the materials,- write/do the draft of the presentation and discuss it in group, -make the necessary changes, -add your own opinions about this activity in the presentation, and -publish the product on the blog as a comment;
Needed materials and resources for each stage- papers, pens, camera/ mobile phones, computer, people in the community.
Students’ outcomes for each stage:
the three teams;
2 holidays to describe;
responsibilities of every member of the team;
pictures of the holidays;
history of the holiday;
your opinions about the work done in group;
the final result.
